June 6 Deadline for Establishing Cattle Markets

LAHORE: The Punjab Local Government Department has issued a deadline of June 6 for commissioners and deputy commissioners to establish cattle markets across all districts of Punjab in preparation for Eid-ul-Azha. This directive aims to facilitate traders and ensure the smooth operation of cattle markets throughout the province.

Fee Waiver and Legal Enforcement

In a bid to support traders, the government has announced that no fees will be collected from traders on sacrificial animals. Additionally, Section 144 will be enforced to prevent the operation of illegal markets, ensuring that all trading activities are conducted within authorized areas.

Lahore’s Market Preparations

In Lahore, eight temporary cattle markets and one permanent market will be set up to cater to the increased demand for sacrificial animals. The Local Government Department has also mandated the establishment of medical camps in these markets to administer lumpy skin vaccine and Congo virus spray, safeguarding both animals and traders.

Ensuring Cleanliness and Compliance

Minister of Local Government Zeeshan Rafique emphasized that illegal markets would not be tolerated. To ensure cleanliness and compliance with regulations, the holidays of officers and staff have been suspended. This measure aims to maintain high standards of hygiene and orderliness in the markets.

Facilities for Traders

The Local Government Department has instructed all deputy commissioners to ensure the provision of essential facilities for traders. These facilities include quotas, water supply, electricity, and parking arrangements, enhancing the overall experience for both traders and buyers.
