Smog Crisis : PPP Criticizes Punjab Govt’s Handling

General Secretary of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Central Punjab, Hasan Murtaza, expressed serious reservation over the Punjab Govt’s response to this severe smog crisis which is affecting Lahore and cities residing in its vicinity. Hasan Murtaza criticized the authorities for not successfully controlling environmental pollution just like they have failed in their political challenges.

Murtaza referred to the case of a three-year-old girl who has lately brought health issues in the courts due to smog crisis, and asked questions about the seriousness of the Punjab govt with public health which is especially pertinent as the Chief Minister travelled to Geneva recently. The measures taken, according to him, were just temporary measures by closing schools and motorways or closing schools and motorways cannot fight these dangers brought about by smog.

Murtaza referred to the lag in the diplomatic attempt, sought information about the proposed letter meant for collaborative approach by the Chief Minister of Indian Punjab to be put into place towards declining smog. He also didn’t believe in creating an artificial rain terming it as unrealistic .

The PPP leader appealed to the Punjab Govt to impose mass and long-lasting solutions towards raising the quality of the air and observe public health in the wake of this crisscrossing smog Crisis.
