PMEX to Digitize Pakistan’s Commodity Market

ISLAMABAD: Farhan Tahir, Managing Director of Pakistan Mercantile Exchange (PMEX), emphasized the crucial role of PMEX in shaping the future market and the overall market economy on Saturday.

In an interview with APP, Tahir highlighted the importance of the market ecosystem and storage. He mentioned that PMEX is focusing on research and analytics to digitize the country’s commodity market.

Tahir stressed the significance of digitization and automation in the global capital market. He stated, “We are developing the commodity market ecosystem, which is vital for the restoration and growth of our economy.”

To underscore the future market’s importance, PMEX organized an exhibition aimed at raising public awareness and aligning the country’s economy with future market demands.

Tahir noted that productivity in Pakistan’s economy is currently low, necessitating further efforts. PMEX is committed to addressing this issue. He also mentioned that storage facilities are crucial for the commodity market and that PMEX is ready to support farmers, positively impacting the agricultural sector.

He pointed out that modern economies rely heavily on research and data, and Pakistan’s future economy will be no different. The government aims to partner with PMEX to modernize the market economy, facilitating progress.

Tahir added that stakeholder involvement is essential for enhancing economic competitiveness and aligning with the global market. PMEX offers a robust platform for integrating stakeholders within the agricultural economy.

Habib Mamsa, Regional Manager of Business Development at PMEX, echoed Tahir’s sentiments. He remarked that the future market is vital for economic competitiveness and productivity.

Syed Hamid Reza, Head of Project Development, emphasized the importance of the commodity market in the future economy, particularly the role of data. He underscored the need for proper storage for major crops like wheat and corn to prevent wastage.

Irfan Kisana, Senior Manager of Product at PMEX, reiterated the significance of integrating the future market into Pakistan’s economy.
