Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, during his day-long visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), emphasized the need for Pakistan to emulate the UAE’s economic transformation model, shifting focus from seeking loans to fostering collaboration and investment.
In an address to Pakistani and UAE business communities, he underscored the significance of cooperation between the two nations, highlighting the potential for mutual gains.
“We’re here not to borrow but to foster partnerships,” he remarked.
Acknowledging the UAE’s strides in economic diversification under President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s leadership, Shehbaz stressed the need for Pakistan to follow suit, leveraging its youthful population for economic growth.
“Pakistan, with its youthful demographic, presents immense opportunities,” he noted.
Expressing admiration for the UAE’s shift away from reliance on oil and gas, the premier reiterated his commitment to revitalizing Pakistan’s economy through joint ventures and knowledge exchange initiatives with the UAE.
He emphasized the importance of learning from the UAE’s expertise, advocating for training programs for Pakistani professionals.
The visit, focused on bolstering investment, marks Shehbaz Sharif’s first trip to the UAE since assuming office earlier this year. Accompanied by key cabinet ministers, the premier aims for fruitful discussions with UAE leaders, aiming to strengthen bilateral ties.
Upon arrival, he expressed anticipation for productive dialogues, while being warmly welcomed by UAE Vice President Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
