Pakistan and Russia agreed on Wednesday to expand cooperation regarding maritime security as well as naval technology, Radio Pakistan reported on 14 January.
A two-day consultation between Pakistan Navy and the Russian Naval High Command reached a formal consensus today at the Islamabad headquarters between Deputy Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation, Colonel General Alexander V Fomin, and the Pakistani Naval Chief, Admiral Naveed Ashraf.
Last year, trade between Pakistan and Russia jumped by a healthy 50pc.
During the meeting, they discussed matters of mutual interest pertaining to professional matters, the regional maritime security situation, and bilateral naval cooperation.
They also discussed different facets of cooperation, including bilateral training, visits of naval warships, and joint naval exercises between the two naval forces.

Admiral Naveed Ashraf said that Pakistan values its relationship with the Russian Federation and seeks a long-term multifaceted partnership.
The Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation also appreciated the continued efforts by the Pakistan Navy to maintain very high commitment toward maritime security in the region.
