New Anthem Honors Gilgit-Baltistan’s Historic Freedom Day

GILGIT: A stirring new anthem, performed by local artists Zeeshan Hamza and Hashmi, has been released to commemorate Gilgit-Baltistan’s Freedom Day from Dogra rule on November 1. The anthem not only celebrates the region’s natural beauty but also honors the courage, culture, and heritage of its people.

Set against the majestic landscapes of Gilgit-Baltistan, the anthem’s lyrics reflect the historical struggle for freedom, beginning with the uprising on November 1, 1947, which led to the end of Dogra rule and the region’s union with Pakistan on August 14, 1948.

With emotive lines such as, “Our ancestors’ sacrifices will never go in vain; we hold the spirit of martyrdom; this passion is our treasure,” the anthem embodies the people’s deep connection to their homeland. It serves as a powerful reminder of their journey toward self-determination and unity.

The anthem also promotes messages of peace, love, and resilience, encapsulating the values that continue to inspire the people of Gilgit-Baltistan
