In a startling development, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has announced a significant increase in electricity tariffs, raising the rate by Rs 2.53 per unit.
This adjustment, linked to the monthly fuel adjustment for June, has left the public grappling with yet another financial burden amid ongoing inflationary pressures.
The latest hike comes as part of NEPRA’s periodic review of electricity rates, aimed at reflecting fluctuations in fuel prices and other related costs.
While the increase is set to impact a broad spectrum of consumers, notable exceptions include Lifeline and K-Electric customers, who will not be subjected to this surcharge.
