Pakistan marked its 77th Independence Day on Wednesday with a blend of traditional zeal and national pride, reaffirming its commitment to the ideals of the Pakistan Movement and the vision of becoming a true Islamic welfare state.
The day commenced with a ceremonial 31-gun salute in the Federal Capital, followed by a 21-gun salute at provincial headquarters.
This display of national pride set the tone for the celebrations that unfolded across the country.
Special prayers were offered in mosques at dawn, focusing on the peace, solidarity, and prosperity of the nation. These prayers were a collective plea for the continued progress and unity of Pakistan as it moves forward.
A key highlight of the day’s festivities was the national flag-hoisting ceremony in Islamabad. This symbolic event was mirrored at provincial, divisional, and district headquarters throughout the country, emphasizing the unity and collective spirit of the nation.
Radio Pakistan and Pakistan Television (PTV) dedicated special programming to honour the heroes of the Pakistan Movement, reflecting on their extraordinary contributions to the creation of Pakistan. These broadcasts paid tribute to the sacrifices made by those who shaped the country’s history.
In addition to the official ceremonies, streets across the nation were adorned with patriotic fervour. Roadside stalls offered flags, badges, stickers, and clothing in national colors, catering to both adults and children.
Public buildings displayed the national flag prominently, and various public and private structures were illuminated with vibrant lights, adding to the festive atmosphere.
