HYDERABAD: Sindh Provincial Agriculture Minister Sardar Muhammad Bakhsh Khan Mehr has called for modernization in agriculture to tackle environmental challenges. He urged agriculture officials to guide farmers on the latest best practices and emerging issues in the sector.
At the oath-taking ceremony of the Agriculture Association at the Agriculture Research Institute in Tando Jam, the minister stressed the critical role of agriculture officers in advancing the field. He encouraged them to collaborate with farmers to develop innovative solutions and boost crop production.
Minister Mehr pointed out major challenges in agriculture, such as the careful use of chemical pesticides, developing new crop varieties and seeds, controlling diseases, and increasing crop yields. He emphasized the need to educate farmers on these issues to ensure sustainable farming practices.
The minister highlighted the potential for improving the production and quality of key crops like mangoes, dates, wheat, and cotton, which are vital for the economy. By supporting farmers and promoting advanced techniques, Sindh’s agriculture sector can thrive and significantly contribute to national growth.
Vice Chancellor of Sindh Agriculture University Tando Jam, Professor Dr. Fateh Mari, and others were also present at the event.
