Massive decline in petrol, diesel prices in Pakistan from August 1

The federal government has announced a reduction in the prices of petroleum products, providing some relief to consumers amid rising inflation.

According to a notification issued by the Ministry of Finance, the price of petrol has been decreased by Rs 6.17, while the price of high-speed diesel has been reduced by Rs 10.86.

Additionally, light diesel oil has seen a reduction of Rs 5.72, and the price of kerosene has been cut by Rs 6.32.

Following this reduction, petrol will now be available at Rs 269.43 per litre, and diesel at Rs 272.77 per litre. The new prices will be effective from midnight tonight.

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has approved the reduction, aimed at alleviating the financial burden on the public.

This decision comes after the government had previously increased the price of petrol by Rs 9.99 and high-speed diesel by Rs 6.18 on July 15.
