Situated in resource-rich Balochistan, Gwadar port plays a pivotal role in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project, a 3,000km infrastructure venture in Pakistan backed by China.
During a recent meeting focused on bolstering ties with China, the PM emphasized Pakistan’s keenness to deepen collaboration, notably in agriculture, IT, energy, and enhancing exports to China.
Moreover, PM Shehbaz extended a warm invitation to Chinese firms, particularly in the textile sector, to establish industries within Pakistan, assuring them of comprehensive security measures.
While China remains a significant investor in Pakistan, recent attacks on Chinese projects by militant groups have raised concerns. The PM underscored the importance of safeguarding Chinese nationals working in Pakistan.
In light of ongoing security challenges, PM Shehbaz stressed the preparation for the next phase of CPEC, highlighting the significance of Agriculture Demonstration Zones as a forthcoming project.
He directed relevant ministries to devise new initiatives to strengthen Pakistan-China ties, emphasizing the potential for China to aid in boosting Pakistan’s exports, a vital component of the country’s economic growth.
