In a significant move to bolster the artificial intelligence (AI) ecosystem in Pakistan and the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region, Google has unveiled a new initiative called the AI Academy.
The program aims to foster innovation, partnerships, and the exchange of expertise across borders, as announced in a press release on Monday.
The AI Academy, part of Google for Startups, will support over 20 startups developing AI-based technologies. These startups will gain access to Google’s global AI experts for personalized guidance and support. Additionally, each startup will receive a Google Cloud Credit of up to $350,000 to advance AI development and experimentation. The program also offers opportunities for networking and collaboration among AI startups in the region.
Google’s PR agency emphasized the program’s goal to accelerate the market readiness of AI startups by helping them develop proof of concepts and product roadmaps. This accelerated process aims to demonstrate the tangible value of their innovations in AI, ultimately speeding up their path to success.
Farhan S. Qureshi, Google’s Country Director for Pakistan, highlighted the strategic importance of the new AI Academy program. “This initiative underscores Google’s commitment to advancing artificial intelligence across the Asia-Pacific region. Pakistan, being a key market, stands to benefit significantly as local startups enhance their AI solutions and contribute to the region’s AI ecosystem,” he stated.
The press release also mentioned that applications for the AI Academy program are open until August 16, inviting interested startups to seize this opportunity to elevate their AI capabilities and innovations.
