A German tourist, Berg Florian, was violently robbed and assaulted in the northern Cantt area of Lahore near the city’s airport.
The incident occurred around midnight, as the 27-year-old cyclist camped out following his journey through Pakistan.
According to the FIR, Florian was attacked by two unidentified men who approached his campsite under the cover of darkness. The assailants demanded money and began searching through Florian’s belongings. When the victim attempted to flee, one of the attackers choked him and physically assaulted him to force him into handing over his valuables.
The robbers managed to steal Florian’s camera, valued at approximately $2,000, along with AirPods, an iPhone, some cash, and several electronic devices. The total estimated value of the stolen items is around half a million Pakistani rupees.
A manhunt is currently underway, supported by CCTV footage from the area. Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Operations Muhammad Faisal Kamran has taken serious notice of the crime and has instructed the police to expedite their efforts to apprehend the culprits.
In a related development, an eyewitness reported that Florian, who had collapsed after the attack, was found and given medical assistance by passersby before being transported to a nearby hospital. Following initial treatment, he was moved to a local flat for further care. The police have initiated action based on Florian’s complaint.
