Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Sunday visited the home of Arshad Nadeem – Pakistan’s Olympic gold medalist – and presented him with a cheque worth Rs100 million and a car in recognition of his historic achievement at the Paris Olympics 2024.
In a display of support and admiration, CM Maryam Nawaz arrived in Mian Channu by helicopter to personally congratulate the javelin thrower who has brought immense pride to the nation.
Arshad Nadeem’s gold medal in the javelin throw category has not only earned him widespread acclaim but has also led to significant rewards from both provincial and municipal authorities.
During her visit, the chief minister lauded Nadeem for his remarkable performance, describing his victory as a moment of great pride for Pakistan. She also announced a series of development projects for his hometown, including the construction of roads leading to the village, a hospital, and the establishment of a university in Mian Channu.
Arshad Nadeem has been the focus of national attention since his victory, which has secured Pakistan’s first-ever gold medal in the javelin throw at the Olympics. The athlete’s triumph has been celebrated across the country, with various entities stepping forward to honor his contribution to sports.
Earlier, Karachi’s mayor, Murtaza Wahab, announced a cash reward of Rs5 crore for Nadeem, further acknowledging his historic achievement.
