Pakistan Hosts Sikh Pilgrims Worldwide: Fireworks, Processions, and Harmony

NANKANA SAHIB: The historic Gurdwara Janam Asthan came alive with vibrant festivities as Sikh pilgrims from around the globe gathered to celebrate the birth anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak. The event attracted devotees from countries including India, marking a moment of unity and spiritual reflection.

Key dignitaries, including Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Chaudhry Salik Hussain, Additional Secretary Saifullah Khokhar, and Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee Chairman Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora, attended the celebrations alongside prominent Sikh leaders such as Sardar Sawant Singh, Sardar Tara Singh, and Dr. Mampal Singh.

Chaudhry Salik Hussain reaffirmed Pakistan’s dedication to safeguarding the rights of minorities, emphasizing the government’s efforts to foster religious harmony and protect Sikh heritage. He stated, “Pakistan respects all religions and remains committed to serving pilgrims with dignity and care.”

A Warm Welcome for Pilgrims

As part of the arrangements, 100 newly constructed rooms have been added to Gurdwara Janam Asthan to accommodate the influx of pilgrims. Free lodging, meals, transportation, and medical facilities are being provided to attendees, reflecting Pakistan’s hospitality.

Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora encouraged Sikh devotees worldwide to visit Pakistan, commending the country’s dedication to preserving and maintaining Sikh religious sites. Echoing this sentiment, visiting leaders Sardar Harjit Singh Pappa and Gurnam Singh Jasal praised Pakistan’s hospitality and the freedom of worship extended to minorities.

Grand Procession and Fireworks

A prayer procession from Gurdwara Janam Asthan to Gurdwara Kiara Sahib became the highlight of the festivities, with participants chanting messages of peace and unity. The evening sky lit up with a spectacular fireworks display, adding to the celebratory atmosphere.

A dedicated medical camp, led by Dr. Tanveer, ensured pilgrims’ health and safety. Stringent security measures were also in place to safeguard the attendees.

Enhancing Pilgrims’ Experience

Gurdwaras, including Bhai Karam Singh and Bhai Joga Singh, are undergoing renovations to enhance the spiritual experience for visitors. The event also showcased Pakistan’s commitment to fostering religious harmony and promoting shared cultural heritage.

Pilgrims are set to visit Sacha Sauda in Farooqabad tomorrow, continuing the celebrations.

This year’s anniversary serves as a testament to Pakistan’s unwavering efforts in promoting interfaith unity and celebrating the rich cultural tapestry of the region.
