The government, led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, announced today that the price of petrol will remain unchanged for the upcoming fortnight, while the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) will increase by Rs5 per litre.
A notification released by the Finance Ministry confirmed that the Oil & Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) had reviewed consumer prices of petroleum products, taking into account fluctuations in the international market. As a result, the new prices will take effect from October 16, 2024.
Following this adjustment, the price of petrol will stand at Rs247.03 per litre, while high-speed diesel will now cost Rs251.29 per litre.
It is noteworthy that just a few weeks prior, on September 30, the government had announced a reduction in fuel prices. Petrol was decreased by 2 rupees and 7 paise, high-speed diesel by 3 rupees and 40 paise, and light-speed diesel by 1 rupee and 3 paise per litre.
