Tangerang, Indonesia: Pakistani taekwondo sensation Maliha Ali has brought immense pride to the nation by securing a bronze medal at the 6th Asian Open Kyorugi Taekwondo Championship. Representing Pakistan in the -73 kg category, Maliha showcased exceptional skill and determination throughout the competition, held in Tangerang, Indonesia, from October 15 to 18, 2024.
A student of Lahore Garrison University, Maliha’s remarkable achievement is a testament to her unwavering dedication and hard work. The championship witnessed fierce competition from over 275 athletes across Asia, including India, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, the Philippines, Malaysia, Nepal, and the host country, Indonesia.
While South Korea’s Shin Jeong Jin claimed the gold medal in the -73 kg category, and Indonesia’s Maheshwari Nadira secured the silver, Maliha’s bronze medal victory is a significant milestone for Pakistani taekwondo. Her success not only highlights her individual prowess but also serves as an inspiration for aspiring athletes across the country.
A 16-member taekwondo team from Pakistan traveled to Indonesia with the aim of making a strong impact at the prestigious tournament.
