The Punjab government has swiftly imposed Section 144 in five districts of the province, citing security threats. According to an official notification from the Home Department, the ban will be in effect for three days, from Saturday, October 12, to Monday, October 14.

The affected districts include:

  • Dera Ghazi Khan
  • Layyah
  • Muzaffargarh
  • Rajanpur
  • Kot Addu

During this period, all forms of political gatherings, sit-ins, meetings, and protests are strictly prohibited. This measure aims to maintain law and order and protect public property in light of potential security risks.

The decision to enforce Section 144 came in response to requests from local district administrations, which raised concerns that public gatherings could be vulnerable to terrorist activities. The Home Department has issued a formal notification to ensure compliance with these emergency measures.

Authorities have urged citizens to cooperate with law enforcement during this period to enhance public safety and prevent any incidents.

This latest enforcement follows a similar situation last week when Section 144 was implemented in Lahore and Sargodha. In Lahore, the ban was in place from October 3 to 8, and the government called in three companies of Rangers on October 5. In Sargodha, Section 144 was enforced from October 4 to 6, restricting demonstrations and protests during that time.
