Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir embarks on an official journey to Germany, announced the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Thursday.
Upon arrival, General Munir received a warm welcome from General Carsten Breuer, Chief of Defence, at the Federal Ministry of Defence. The German Armed Forces conducted an Honour Guard ceremony in his honor, marking the commencement of his visit.
Engaging in discussions, General Munir met with Lieutenant General Alfons Mais, Chief of the German Army. Additionally, he explored the Army Combat Training Centre in Gardelegen, gaining insights into its operations and observing training sessions for both the German Army and international units.
Notable meetings included discussions with key figures such as Mr. Jens Plötner, Foreign Policy and Security advisor to the Federal Chancellor; Mr. Tobias Linder, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs; and Mr. Nils Hilmer, State Secretary at the Ministry of Defence.
During these deliberations, matters of mutual interest concerning civilian and military leadership were thoroughly addressed, as highlighted by the ISPR. The German leadership commended Pakistan Army’s pivotal role in combating terrorism and upholding regional peace and stability.
General Munir’s itinerary further includes a visit to the German Armed Forces Command & Staff College in Hamburg. There, he is slated to deliver a comprehensive address to students from diverse nations, expounding on Pakistan’s Regional and International Security Perspective, along with the contributions of Pakistan Armed Forces in United Nations Missions.
